Optua is always looking for new volunteers and has a range of opportunities available. The main areas we need volunteers for are our Leisure and Community Transport Services.
Optua Leisure runs a range of leisure and sporting activities across the county and the more volunteers we can find, the more we can do! You don't have to be good at sport or have worked with disabled people before, you just need to be enthusiastic and willing to give up a few hours of your time.
Optua Leisure activities run across Suffolk so there's probably something going on near your which you can help with! You may want to get involved with our exciting Disability Sport Academy Project which was inspired by the 2012 Paralympic Games coming to London. Optua Community Transport is always looking for new volunteer drivers who are vital to the running of our transport services. You don't need to be able to drive a minibus as some of our services involve driving your own car and being paid a good mileage rate. There are other volunteering opportunities with Optua. You could help out in one of our offices or in the volunteer centre itself? We'd also be particularly interested to hear from anyone who might be able to help with our fundraising activities as the more help we can get with these activities, the more money we can raise!
If you can spare any time to help us, we would love to hear from you. Volunteering is very rewarding and is a useful way of gaining experience for people interested in working with disabled people or in the field of social care. It can also be a very positive thing to add to your CV and may even lead to paid employment if you're looking for a job. It doesn't matter how many hours you can spare any time you spend volunteering to help us is very valuable.

The centre is based at 5 Poplar Hill in Stowmarket and is open on Mondays to Friday from 9am to 2pm.
