Throughout the year dedicated volunteers organise events to raise much needed funds for the services provided by Optua. A small selection of these are shown below. Rugby tournament raises over £500!
Well done to Graeme Anderson and friends and everyone who took part in the Optua Rugby 10's Tournament in Stowmarket earlier this month which raised over £500 which will help us provide more local leisure activities for disabled people.

Abseil challenge raises over £1400!
Staff, volunteers, friends and family raised over £1400! taking part in the charity abseil from Ipswich Hospital's maternity block in July. This fantastic amount will go towards ensuring we can support a group of disabled people to attend the popular Mersea Island Festival in Essex in August. Please contact us if you'd like to get involved in activities like this.
Will Cullen from Wattisham airbase ran the London Marathon for us in April!
Running the marathon is the latest way Wattisham have supported our leisure and fundraising activities and we were also invited to do some fundraising at their Medals Parade recently. You can still sponsor Will online via this link. Will ran the marathon in around 4.5 hours!

Jumping, swimming and running for Optua! Fundraising update
We have had some fantastic fundraisers taking part in challenges to help raise money for Optua!
We are very grateful to many people who took part in several summer fundraising activities over the summer. Whilst many people were watching England lose to Germany on 27th June, several people were spending their time more constructively by helping to raise money for Optua!
Several of our staff and volunteers took part in the Ladies Driving Challenge at Bentwaters Park and raised around £400. Around the same time a group of staff from Hope House, the care home run by Optua in Kesgrave, were taking part in the Orwell Walk to raise money for Hope House.
We are also grateful to Jason Welsh of Wattisham station who, along with three of his colleagues, took part in the Great East Swim at Alton Water on Saturday 19th June. They raised around £700 for Optua.
We would also like to thank Andrew Bingham Independent Funeral Services who held what is now their annual fundraising car wash for us on 29th May. They raised around £400 for our community transport service which is always in need of funds to keep its services running in Mid Suffolk.
We also recently raised £100 with a teddy tombola at the Ipswich Mencap fete and a name the tiger competition to win a large cuddly white tiger! Optua signs up to Virgin Money Giving!
We have signed up to a new fundraising site - Virgin Money Giving. The new site will allow people to make donations to Optua or to easily sponsor those who are undertaking fundraising activities on our behalf.
